IQ Mobile
Checking Coverage at an Address
IQ Mobile runs on the EE network, which reaches around 99% of the UK population. Coverage still varies street by street, so it is worth checking a specific address rather than assuming.
Check a postcode
Use the coverage checker at helloiq.co.uk/coverage. Enter a full UK postcode and it reports three things:
| Result | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Voice | Whether calls and texts should work |
| Data | Whether mobile data should work |
| Indoor | Whether the signal is expected to reach inside a building |
Indoor is the one people are usually surprised by. Thick stone walls, foil-backed insulation and metal-clad caravans all block mobile signal, so an address can show good outdoor coverage and still be difficult indoors.
If coverage looks poor at your address
- A router or MiFi placed at a window, or an external aerial, makes a large difference in a caravan, motorhome or boat.
- In a building with thick walls, try the room facing the nearest mast.
- Coverage predictions are a model, not a measurement. A short trial in the actual spot is the only certain test.
If you already have a SIM and the signal has dropped
Coverage checkers describe the network, not your device. If service worked at an address before and has now stopped, work through Troubleshooting — No Signal or Data Not Working first, then try manual network selection — a phone sometimes holds on to a distant mast rather than switching to a stronger one.
Coverage abroad
The coverage checker covers the UK only. For travel, see Using Your IQ Mobile SIM Abroad.
