Dealing With Spam Calls on Your Mobile

At IQ Mobile, we recognise the frustration of unwanted spam calls. While we partner with BT to provide protection, certain limitations exist regarding what can be blocked at a network level.

Why We Cannot Block Spam Calls Directly

Spam calls often come from numbers generated or routed outside of the UK network. Because of this, BT (our network provider) cannot actively block or bar these calls before they reach your mobile. The network maintains that blocking calls at their source remains technically impossible.

What You Can Do

The recommended approach is to report unwanted communications. All UK mobile customers can do this easily using the 7726 service.

  • Text the spam number to 7726
  • 7726 spells SPAM on your keypad — easy to remember
  • You can forward both unwanted SMS messages and phone numbers that have called you
  • There is no charge for using this service

Your reports assist UK mobile networks in investigating and taking action against persistent spammers.

Quick Tips

  • Don't answer calls from numbers you don't recognise
  • Avoid sharing personal details over the phone unless you are certain of the caller's identity
  • If a call feels suspicious, disconnect and report via 7726
  • Block caller numbers directly in your handset settings
