Getting Started
Activating an eSIM on Android (Samsung, Google Pixel & More)
Most Android flagships from 2019 onwards support eSIM. The exact steps vary slightly by manufacturer — follow the section below that matches your device.
Before you start: your eSIM QR code is in the confirmation email sent after purchase. Have it open on a separate device (laptop or another phone) as you cannot scan it on the same device you are activating.
Samsung Galaxy (One UI)
- Open Settings.
- Tap Connections → SIM Manager (or SIM card manager on older One UI versions).
- Tap Add eSIM or Add mobile plan.
- Select Scan QR code from service provider.
- Scan the QR code in your IQ Mobile confirmation email.
- Tap Confirm and follow the prompts to set the eSIM as your data SIM or calls SIM.
Google Pixel
- Open Settings.
- Tap Network & internet → SIMs.
- Tap the + icon (Add SIM).
- Tap Download a SIM instead? then Next.
- Scan the QR code in your IQ Mobile confirmation email.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to activate.
Other Android devices (generic)
- Open Settings → Network & internet (or Connections).
- Look for SIM, Mobile network, or Dual SIM settings.
- Find an option to Add eSIM or Download SIM.
- Scan your QR code and follow the prompts.
Troubleshooting
- QR code won't scan: ensure good lighting and hold the camera steady. Try zooming in slightly.
- No eSIM option in settings: check your device is eSIM-compatible. Some budget Android devices and carrier-locked models do not support eSIM.
- eSIM activated but no signal: go to Settings > Mobile network and check the APN is set to "everywhere" — see our APN Setup Guide.
For Apple devices (iPhone, iPad), see our separate Activating eSIMs on Apple Devices guide.
